Classic Rock Magazine

Classic ‘Place name’ T-Shirts
Client: Future Publishing

This was a really fun job. Classic Rock magazine asked me to design a series of t-shirts for them in 2009 and straightaway I knew I wanted to do something a bit cheeky.

The magazine features the kind of classic rock artists (and those influenced by them) of the 70s, 80s and 90s that I grew up listening to. And it occurred to me that many of them wrote songs with fictitious venues and places, which we might be able to use.

A quick brainstorm with the Classic Rock guys delivered a list I could work with and it was then a case of working on designs that fitted the place name. It was obviously important that the design worked with both the venue, and the whole classic rock vibe – the result is a collection of tees that look cool and raise a smile amongst wearers and those ‘in the know’.

Slash’s favourite was the ‘Charlottes Gentlemens Club’ (Iron Maiden – Charlotte The Harlot)
