Music Live

Everything But The Logo
Client: Clarion Events

OK, so I inherited the logo. But everything else – website, print ads, t-shirt design, email newsletter, direct printed mail, signage – that’s all me.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. I should explain that Music Live is the UK’s biggest, longest-running music-making event. It’s held at the Birmingham NEC each November and comprises a large exhibition of musical equipment and recording gear, a Live Stage and a seminar line-up.

It’s a big, multi-featured affair and that means an awful lot of thinking about how best to communicate various messages to different slices of the show’s target audience.

Music Live is all about balance. It’s a fairly rock’n’roll show, but needs to appeal to all modern music-makers, it’s a big event but needs to appeal to visitors on a very personal basis.

The job is too big to go into real detail about how I approached each creative decision – suffice to say the 2009 show pulled in more than 21,000 visitors.

So the whole team was doing something right.
